Terms of use

Last updated October 17, 2026.

This agreement

These terms are between you and ProductSeal of Torrance, California, USA, which operates Author Sweets. Using the service means you accept them. If you do not, do not use the service.

You must be at least 13, and old enough where you live to agree to an online contract without a parent. If you are using Author Sweets for an organisation, you are confirming you may bind it.

Our privacy notice forms part of this agreement.

Your account

Keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us promptly if you think someone else has them. Activity under your account is treated as yours.

One account is for one person. Sharing a single login is not permitted; a plan that includes seats assigns them to named people instead.

Your work stays yours

You own everything you write, upload or import. Nothing in these terms transfers any part of your copyright to us, and we claim no rights in your book.

To run the service we need a narrow permission: to store your content, move it between your devices, show it in the app, produce the exports and share links you ask for, and show shared chapters to the readers you invite. That permission exists only to operate the service for you, is not exclusive, is not transferable except to a successor of the business, and ends when you delete the content or your account.

We do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not permit our providers to. The AI pledge in the privacy notice is part of these terms.

You are responsible for having the rights to what you put in, including anything you import from another tool and any image or text you did not write yourself.

Acceptable use

Use the service lawfully. Do not use it to infringe someone's rights, to produce sexual content involving minors, to harass, to break into accounts, to distribute malware, or to build a competing service out of our interface.

Do not attempt to bypass access controls, plan limits or rate limits, scrape the product, or drive automated load beyond what a person could generate.

We may suspend an account that is doing serious harm to the service or to other people, and we will tell you why.

Plans, billing and refunds

Paid plans are subscriptions. They renew automatically for the same period until cancelled, at the price shown when you subscribed. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for; you keep access until then.

Prices on the pricing page are indicative until checkout. The price you pay is the one Stripe shows you at the moment you confirm, including any tax.

Refunds: If you are not satisfied with a plan that does not include AI features, ask us within 30 days of a charge and we refund that charge in full, no questions asked. Plans that include AI features cost us real money every time the AI runs, so their charges are refunded in full only if you ask within 7 days of the charge; after that they are not refundable except where the law requires. This is in addition to any statutory right of withdrawal you have, which we will honour. No plan includes AI features today, so the longer window applies to every current plan.

To ask for a refund, write to [email protected] from the email address on your account. The refund goes back to the card or account you paid with, through Stripe, and usually appears within 5 to 10 business days.

We may change prices for future periods. You will get notice before a change takes effect on your subscription, and you can cancel before it does.

Cancel from the billing page in your account, or write to us and we will do it. If a payment fails and is not resolved, the plan drops to Free. Your work is not deleted for non-payment; features above the free limits become unavailable until the plan is restored.

What is built, and what is announced

The pricing page lists only features that are built and available today. Anything we announce elsewhere as planned is not part of what you are buying, and may change or be dropped. Do not subscribe for one.

We aim to keep the service available but do not promise a specific uptime, and we may take it down briefly for maintenance.

Connected services

Sign-in with Google and payment through Stripe are run by other companies under their own terms. Using them means accepting those terms too.

Availability of an export format in Author Sweets is not a promise that a retailer, printer or distributor will accept the file.

Ending it

You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time. Deletion removes the books, files and account record we hold for you; see the privacy notice for what survives and why.

We may end this agreement if you materially breach it, or if we stop offering the service. If we stop offering it we will give reasonable notice and a way to export your work.

What we do and do not promise

We provide the service with reasonable care and skill. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, it is provided as it is: we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and if you are a consumer your statutory rights are unaffected by anything in this section.

Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows, neither party is liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability for any claim arising out of this agreement is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty US dollars.

This limit does not apply to death or personal injury caused by negligence, to fraud, or to anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Keep your own copies of your work. Our liability for lost content is subject to the same limit, and no software should be your only copy of a book.

If someone brings a claim against us because of content you put into the service or the way you used it, you will cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it, provided we tell you promptly and let you take part in the defence.

Changes to these terms

We will update these terms as the product changes. The date at the top reflects the current version. A change that materially reduces what you get will be announced in the product before it takes effect, and continuing to use the service after that is acceptance; if you would rather not accept it, cancel.

Governing law and disputes

The law of the State of California, USA governs this agreement and any dispute arising from it. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in, or of the right to bring a claim in your local courts.

Write to us first at [email protected]. Most things are faster to fix than to litigate.
