Check your seven KDP keywords
Amazon KDP gives each book seven keyword boxes. Fill them here to see how long each one is, which words you have used twice or already have in your title, and anything KDP's own guidance asks you to leave out.
It does not score your keywords or guess how often readers search for them: no page outside Amazon can know that. It all runs in your browser, and nothing is sent anywhere.

What KDP asks you to leave out
From KDP Help, Make Your Book More Discoverable with Keywords, last read on November 4, 2026. KDP says its list is not complete.
- Words already in your title, subtitle, author name or other book details.
- The same word spaced, punctuated, capitalised or pluralised another way.
- Quotation marks and HTML tags.
- Claims about quality, such as “best novel ever”.
- Time-sensitive words, such as “new” or “on sale”.
- Amazon program names, such as KDP Select.
- The name of an author not linked to your book, and brands you may not use.
- Misspellings.
What this page checks
- Length. Each box against the number of characters you set, 50 to start with. KDP asks you to watch the limit on the field itself, so change it if your form shows a different one.
- Words used twice. A word in two boxes, or in a box and in your title, counting “dragon” and “dragons” as the same word. Short joining words such as “the”, “of” and “and” are left out. Common advice is to use each word once, so the space goes to new ones.
- Words KDP asks you to leave out. Quotation marks, HTML tags, a few time-sensitive and quality phrases, and Amazon program names. It cannot tell another author's name, a brand or a misspelling, so read the list above yourself.
A clean result means only that none of these turned up. It says nothing about how well a keyword will sell: that depends on your book and on what readers search for.

Write and revise the book itself, then export the files KDP takes: EPUB and PDF on every plan, and Word on Scribe and above. The blurb length checker counts your book description against KDP's 4,000 characters.
